Portrait of Marcus Paul

Marcus Paul (right) has been a designer working out of Ligne Roset's Park Avenue showroom for the past four years. Trained as a designer first at Howard University then at Richmond College in London, Marcus has a great eye and an uncanny ability to turn a simple space into a home. His vision for this Chelsea-based studio apartment was to make the space functional, with a minimalist feel.

"The couple originally purchased this space to rent, but instead decided to live in it. It was important not to overcrowd the space," says Marcus.

Marcus used all light colors to give the space a more open feel. Additionally, he used a large floor mirror to add depth to the space and make the room appear larger. The furniture pieces Marcus used to outfit the space are also functional. The coffee table converts into a dining table while the T.V. unit is included in the storage system.

Marcus comments: "The people I created this for are very young, energetic and cosmopolitan. We really created a sanctuary for them with simplicity being a key factor."
